Build, don’t buy.

This applies to community, reputation, authority, trust. None can be purchased. All must be built through consistent action over time.

Shortcuts in relationship-building are not shortcuts. They create the appearance of community without the substance. And when the appearance is tested – when you need advocacy rather than passive consumption – the purchased community evaporates.

Built community holds. Because it was built through genuine exchange – through giving before receiving, through earning trust before expecting it.
