Free From The Factory
We are free from the factory.
For most of human history, access to the means of production – the printing press, the broadcast tower, the factory floor – was controlled by a small number of powerful institutions. If you wanted to reach an audience, you needed their permission and their infrastructure.
That’s over. The tools of production and distribution are now in everyone’s hands. You can publish, broadcast, create, and reach a global audience from your laptop.
This is the most significant shift in the history of communication. And most people are treating it like a slightly more efficient version of the old model.
The factory mindset says: make something, distribute it, sell it. The free-from-the-factory mindset says: connect with people, understand what they need, create with them.
You are free. The question is what you’ll do with that freedom.
