Life: It’s the Experience That Counts
Last night was the opening of Touch 09 – both our client and one of our church initiatives – and it kicked derrière. We’ve worked very hard, but the stars are all the volunteers who have tirelessly put time and effort into making this conference a success.
As I stood there, watching the whole thing play out in front of me, whilst enjoying my clean task list, I thought about the idea of experience. Life, we are told, is not about what happens to you, but how you respond to it. So too, life is not the things we do, but the experience we have whilst doing them. We can have great things happening around us, but be numb to the experience. Or we can have very ordinary things happening, and yet have a rich and wonderful experience.
I think the latter is what makes for a great life.
