Not A Presentation, A Participation!

Not a presentation. A participation.

That’s the shift I keep pushing for in every event I design. The question is never ‘how do I present well?’ It’s ‘how do I create the conditions for people to participate?'

Presentation is about the speaker. Participation is about the room.

Presentation leaves people as consumers of someone else’s thinking. Participation turns them into contributors to a shared thinking process.

The best events I’ve been to – and the best ones I’ve designed – are the ones where I left with ideas that were mine, shaped by the conversation I was part of. Not ideas I received from a stage.
