The 6 Types Of Social Media Presences You’ll Meet In Heaven
There are six types of social media presences I keep encountering. I’ve given them names.
1. The Broadcaster
Uses social media as a one-way channel. Posts announcements, links, and content. Never responds. Doesn’t understand why engagement is low.
2. The Networker
Connects with everyone. Has thousands of connections. Knows nobody deeply. Treats social media as a numbers game.
3. The Performer
Curates a flawless public persona. Every post is polished. Nothing authentic gets through. Exhausting to maintain. Eventually unsustainable.
4. The Conversationalist
Actually talks to people. Responds. Asks questions. Gets better results than the first three combined, with a fraction of the effort.
5. The Community Builder
Understands that the goal is not followers but belonging. Creates spaces where people connect with each other, not just with the brand. Plays a long game.
6. The Absent
Has accounts but doesn’t use them. Often the most self-aware of the group.
Most organisations are Broadcasters or Networkers, wishing they were Performers, not realising they should be Conversationalists or Community Builders.
Which are you?
