The End Of The Age Of Content, Part 2
Content is no longer scarce. Therefore content alone is no longer a differentiator. What comes after content?
Context.
Content tells you something. Context tells you what it means for you, in your situation, right now.
In a world drowning in content, context is the scarce resource. The person who can take the right content, at the right time, and make it meaningful for a specific person or community – that’s where the value lies.
This is why curation is increasingly valuable. Not just collecting and sharing, but selecting with judgment, framing with insight, delivering to the right people at the right time.
And it’s why community is more valuable than audience. An audience receives content. A community provides context – through discussion, shared experience, the ongoing conversation that makes information meaningful.
The age of content is ending. The age of context is beginning.
